Civil society and grassroots communities play an essential role in ensuring that climate commitments are met and that finance addresses the most pressing needs. This event will focus on “green accountability”—how national and subnational governments can ensure that climate actions are transparent, inclusive, and accountable to their societies. It will highlight a new initiative funded by the World Bank’s Global Partnership for Social Accountability (GPSA) and led by World Resources Institute, Huairou Commission, and SouthSouthNorth, which will provide grants, technical assistance and a community of practice to civil society organizations in 5-6 countries.
