Planning and preparing for shocks pays. Pre-Arranged Financing (PAF) for disasters has the potential to significantly increase the predictability, speed and effectiveness of responses to shocks. Despite gathering momentum, PAF remains a small and niche component of international crisis financing and climate adaptation and resilience building efforts. Meanwhile, exposure to risk continues to grow at alarming rates. With countries increasingly experiencing shocks, the session will focus on offering (i) a trusted baseline on the state of PAF (ii) highlight practical steps that be taken to address this challenge (iii) and issue a call to action for more concerted action.
